Brow Pencil

Quick review!

I'm currently in LOVE with my DiorShow brow styler. For someone who tend to have a heavy hand, this is a gift from above! I can fill in my brow with the confidence that it will be the shape and colour that I want. :) I'm not sure how universal the colour is, but it is perfect for me!

Here are some more reasons to lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvve this product:
  • you can just twist it for more products to come out, which means you don't ever have to sharpen it
  • there is a brush on the other end for easy and quick grooming
  • the colour is buildable
  • it is compact, so that you only need to bring one thing anywhere you go
  • looks natural... I've got some spots that are sparse and with this you can't see them and you can't tell it's filled in ;)
There is however, a speed bump (or two)...
  • it is pricey
  • the packaging is very light... therefore has a 'cheap' feel to it... with that being said, it does not reflect the quality of the product itself!
:) so much for a quick review... Anyways, judge for yourself and try it out! ;)

Late Update: Here is part of the haul... the rest can be found in the accessory post :)

lots of nail polish!!!
I've tried a few of these.. the color pay off is not that great for the matte colors, but the two 'perle' have a nice shimmer with a hint of color... swatches anyone??
good brow pencil, not sure how to use the stencils... its a neat package that is very portable... :)

It just occured to me that everything was Revlon except for the one Maybelline concealer... haha...

Almost June!

A new month means I get to shop for cosmetics again! :D

Well... I've had my eyes set on some Sigma brushes lately... They do not come cheap tho... should I splurge again? Use up my quota right at the beginning of the month? I have to think about it... cuz I also have an order pending on my Sephora account of things I spotted and wanted... even a little gift for one of my friends... ^_^

ahh.... Sigma brushes or lots of random Sephora items? Can't make up my mind!

Foundation

Review: Shiseido - Sun Protection Stick Foundation

In preparation for the summer I needed to get a foundation that has SPF, is not sticky and portable (ie not make a mess in my purse.) One of the foundations that I decided to try is the Shiseido Sun Protection Stick Foundation in 'Beige'. I really like this particular foundation for its quick and easy application as well as a 36 SPF. Also, this foundation does not break me out and does not feel greasy.

On me (and several other peeps) it looks very natural. I'm surprised by this because when a foundation fits me it would most likely be too light on my friend and my mom who have darker skin tone than me. I guess this shade is universal for most Oriental skin tone. It does not leave a 'ghastly' effect, instead it seems to enhance your natural colour, while concealing minor imperfections. It has buildable light to medium coverage, but a thin layer of this product achieves the look for me (except for when I'm breaking out badly.) It is also water-proof, however I haven't tested that out just yet so I can't comment on it.

I did find one drawback about this foundation, after about 2-3 hours of application my T-zone gets oily and I'd need to blot... but this seems to be the case for most of my foundations even after I set it in with powder so the problem might be my skin type.

Haul: L'Oreal and Lancome warehouse sale 2011

Biggest haul (yet)
This was my big splurge of the year and surprisingly it was not just on makeup! I've picked up quite a few sunscreens since we have plans to go camping / white water rafting and other outdoor activities this summer. At a very decent price of $3.38 each for the face sunscreen I just had to get a few to share. :D

Another sunscreen I will be trying out is the one from Biotherm on the bottom left corner. The set is sold for $39 regular but I got it for $21.50 at this sale and it includes a body wash and a body lotion.

I also stocked up on La Roche Posays' Toleriane Dermo face cleanser @ $13.50, regular is $28. One for my bf and one as gift. :)

Face Powder

Review: Philosophy - the color of grace (shimmering face powder)

First thing you'll notice about this product is that it smells awesome but is not overwhelming. The scent just makes me smile =)

This powder gives a nice glow over my foundation and softens my face. I know that most people only use it to highlight their cheeks/eyes and wouldn't use it all over their face, but I didn't have this problem. I use my E.L.F. kabuki to gently go all over my face and I love the subtle shimmers. With that being said, I have used this as a high lighter and it is a quite nice accent.

Haul: Shiseido + Nars 2011

Here's some pictures of the stuff I got this past weekend.

Here's a mini haul from Sasa. I purchased the 'Shiseido Sun Protection Stick Foundation in Beige' at regular price because I did not find it at the warehouse sale. Or if it was there it was soldout before we got there =( However, on a brighter note, Shiseido had a gift with purchase and I got this travel size 'White Lucent' set for free. :)
Got these at Sasa in Market Village
Now, onto the haul from the Shiseido warehouse sale :)

L'Oreal + Shiseido warehouse sale 2011

Yesterday we went to both the L'Oreal warehouse sale as well as the Shiseido one and it was insane!!! There was a lot of people there and the lineups were crazy long! We waited only an hour to get into each sale however to get into the Shiseido sale could take up to 3 hours in the morning, on top of that there was a huge lineup just to pay!! This was a day full of standing, walking and being shoved around with some very aggressive shoppers at both sale who went coucou over everything!

Inside the L'Oreal warehouse sale

crazy line up to go into the Shiseido warehouse sale

Inside the Shiseido warehouse

the shopping crew!

From the top of my head I remember only buying some eyeshadows, mascara, sunscreens, and hair products from the L'Oreal sale and for the Shiseido sale it was mainly eyeshadows(again), eyeliners, blushes, nail polishes and I got one moisturizer. Both sales had great deals however I feel that the sale at Shiseido was better as there were more options for skincare and they were continuously restocking items throughout. Will post pictures up when I finally get to it :)

Notes for when you go to these sales:
- wear comfortable shoes (you will be standing a lot!)
- wear t-shirt (it gets very hot and stuffy inside)
- bring water (keep yourself hydrated, they have washrooms if you need to take a break)
- bring snacks (especially if you decide to go to two sales on the same day)
- set a limit (you don't want to max out your credit cards, however please note that at the L'Oreal sale they do have a $600 limit per ticket)
- and finally, learn kung fu. I kid you not, you will be fending people off you and your stuff!!! Haha!!

Oh yeah. And after all this madness I still ended up going to Pacific Mall and Market Village to pick up my Shiseido stick foundation (it was not at the sale) and my Skin79 BB cream. I am prepped for summer :)

Natural look with purple + pink

After seeing how gorgeous Ronnie wore her eyeshadow I decided to try out my MAC quad in "Girlish Romp" this weekend, however I only used the 'mid-tone pink' from the quad and colours combined from my Clinique and UB eyeshadow palettes... Here's the simple pinkish purple day look I came up with.

Day look: Purple + pink

Products used:

Urban Decay - Primer + 'Gun metal' (outter corner of the eye) + 'Darkhorse' (to line bottom of the eye)
MAC - Mid-tone pink (all over lid)
Clinique - 'cutie pink shade from pink lollipop' (on the inner corner) + 'deep purple shade from come Heather trio' (on crease)
Blinc - Kiss Me mascara

-----------------------------

I also repeated the look, however modified for the night... here's some pictures :)
